Lincoln Electric is looking to fill an Additive Robotic Production Welding Operator position at its Euclid facility on Bluestone Boulevard — a role that puts a concrete number on whether automation-era manufacturing can still deliver family-supporting wages to local workers without a four-year degree.
The job pays $22.58 to $28.85 an hour, plus a target bonus of 8 percent. At 40 hours a week year-round, that translates to roughly $47,000 to $60,000 in base pay, or about $50,700 to $64,800 with the bonus. For context, Euclid's median household income was approximately $48,696 in 2023 dollars, according to Census estimates covering 2019 through 2023. At the top of the range, this single position could put a worker well above that threshold.
The operator will run robotic welding systems and wire-arc additive manufacturing equipment — essentially a metal 3D-printing process that uses a robotic arm, an electric arc, and metal wire to build large components and repairs layer by layer. It is a full-time hourly position on either second shift (2–10:30 p.m.) or third shift (10 p.m.–6:30 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with overtime, weekend, holiday, and on-call work possible.
No Degree Required — But the Bar Isn't Low
The education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent, not a bachelor's degree. Still, the role demands real skills. New hires must obtain Semi-Automatic GMAW and Aluminum GMAW welding certifications within six months. Prior Gas Metal Arc Welding experience is preferred, as is familiarity with robotic welding, fabrication, additive manufacturing, or metalworking.
The physical demands are significant: occasional lifting of 60 pounds, work in confined areas, climbing ladders, operating at heights up to 20 feet, and wearing a respirator. Operators also need to be comfortable with Microsoft Office, production records, forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment.
More broadly, automation-related manufacturing jobs tend to require hands-on technical ability, basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and familiarity with programmable logic controllers, industrial robots, sensors, and safety practices — skills that can be built through vocational programs, apprenticeships, short-term certificates, and on-the-job training.
Where Local Workers Can Get Those Credentials
Several training pipelines exist within reach of Euclid residents. Cuyahoga Community College offers short-term, stackable welding certificates and an Industrial Welding Certificate of Proficiency covering SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, robotic welding, and oxy-fuel and plasma processes. Tri-C's Introductory Welding certificate is designed for students with no prior experience and aims to prepare them for entry-level work. The college's programs can lead to multiple nationally recognized American Welding Society certifications.
A statewide option is also available: the Association for Advancing Automation and Mahoning County Career & Technical Center secured a $499,000 Ohio IMAP workforce grant offering free, industry-recognized robotics and automation training, enabling roughly 3,000 course enrollments through June 30, 2027. Two courses are available now, with five more to be added in coming months.
Lincoln Electric itself runs a 130,000-square-foot Welding Technology and Training Center in Euclid, offering welding school courses, professional development, train-the-trainer events, and custom programs for educators, industry leaders, and skilled-trades workers.
What Lincoln Electric's Bet on Euclid Looks Like
The posting is one data point in a broader pattern of investment at the Euclid campus, which serves as an active manufacturing and operations hub on the company's world headquarters grounds. Lincoln Electric, a global manufacturer of welding equipment and consumables headquartered in Cleveland, generated approximately $4.0 billion in sales in 2024 and employs roughly 11,000 to 12,000 people worldwide.
The company expects $110 million to $130 million in capital expenditures for 2026, aimed at increasing capacity and improving operational effectiveness. The most visible sign of the additive manufacturing push: the U.S. Navy's Maritime Industrial Base Program and General Dynamics Electric Boat funded four SculptPrint 1500 wire-arc additive manufacturing systems at Lincoln Electric Additive Solutions in Euclid to support submarine-component production — described as the company's largest government-funded capital investment to date.
Lincoln Electric is also actively hiring across multiple Ohio locations, including Euclid, Cleveland, Coldwater, Fort Loramie, Mentor, and Mason, with many postings listed in late August 2026.
The Bluestone Boulevard corridor is drawing other manufacturers, too. Monteferro USA, an elevator guide rail and parts manufacturer, plans to retrofit most of an existing building at 26555 Bluestone Blvd. and hire 40 employees, aided by a 1.118 percent, six-year tax credit.
The central question the additive welding operator posting raises remains open: as Lincoln Electric layers robotics and digital systems onto its production floor, does the pipeline of accessible, well-paying manufacturing work in Euclid expand — or narrow? The pay range suggests these jobs can still anchor a household. The skills they demand are growing more technical. Whether local training programs can close that gap fast enough is the test that matters most for Euclid workers watching the plant's next chapter unfold.
